About the E. Gene Smith Memorial Library

The E. Gene Smith Memorial Library is a digital library dedicated to providing deepened access to Tibetan Buddhist collections. The library is comprised of detailed metadata and scanned source texts that were preserved over many years by Tibetan Buddhist Resource Center (TBRC) and then Buddhist Digital Resource Center (BDRC).

Named in honor of E. Gene Smith, a pioneering scholar who dedicated his life to preserving Tibetan literature, this library continues his mission by expanding on TBRC and BDRC's public domain metadata so that these invaluable collections can be more accessible to the global Tibetan community.
